Tom just finished with a lovely oak dresser that had been painted brown. I had started stripping it myself but after 3 years and still not being completed I found Tom. The piece is now fabulous. He did an excellent job, on time and reasonably priced. I'll definitely use him again.

Grandmother Carrie's drop-leaf table is again as beautiful as it was in a photograph taken at her house by my mother at Christmas 1950. Soon after that, the table was moved to my parents' house. Then a few years ago, it came to my house. After restoration by Tom Tye and company a few weeks ago, it is as beautiful as it was in that old photograph.

We have purchased a side board and a dresser from Tom. Both pieces are beautiful and they both fit perfectly into our home. Tom is great to work with. He is very helpful and he gladly delivered both pieces.. Thank you, Tom. See you at your open house.

Tom is the best at refinishing antique furniture. He has helped me a great deal! I highly recommend him.

Tom did a wonderful job in refinishing our six dining room chairs. The soft finish is beautiful and the price was very fair. Tom did the work in the time he stated and he was a pleasure to deal with. I would strongly recommend Tom for any furniture refinishing work you may have.

If you're looking for snooty decorating types, you'll want to go elsewhere. If you are looking for down-to-earth, honest, nice work at a reasonable price, this is the place for you! We have been so pleased with the pieces we have had refurbished here and appreciate Tom's guidance when it came to decisions on our latest project -- reupholstering and restoring a unique heirloom settee. After decades of neglect, we rescued it from certain dump-dom and trusted Tom with the work. Now it is a focal point in our living room, at a fraction of the cost we feared. If you love that old family piece, don't give up on it -- take it to Tye's!

I bought this 1940's secretary from a woman who had used it in her kitchen for a catch-all and plant stand. The finish was a mess, but the piece was solid and had some charming lines. My husband was quite skeptical. It sat in our garage for 2 years while I tried to figure out how to restore it. After a few awful attempts, I discovered Tom Tye through his ad in the Midlothian Exchange. After visiting his shop and talking with him, I happily turned over my secretary to him and I couldn't be happier with the result. My lovely secretary now welcomes all visitors to our home in the foyer. Even my husband had to admit that, after all, this really IS a nice piece of furniture, all thanks to Tom's expertise in refinishing.

I visited Tyes for the first time today...He and his wife were most helpful and very kind....Needless to say i will go back again...It is so refreshing to go into a shop and not feel pressured to buy,but encourgaged to browse... Some of the other "Antique" dealers in the county can take lessons from them on customer service...Way to go!!!

Tye's workmanship on restoring and repairing old furniture was excellent and resonabley priced. We would highly recommend Tye for his honesty and expertise in restoring and fixing old sentimental furniture. He restored and refinished a table that has been in my husband's family for years and did a great job. No more can you see where the dogs have chewed on the clawed feet!

Tom recently refinished a couple of very old church pews for us. The pews had many layers of different paints, and were a highly challenging job. However, Tom made them both look beautiful at a very reasonable price, and one is now the pride of our living room. We can't say enough about Tom's honesty, his "down-home" friendly manner and genuine interest in pleasing the customer. We look forward to our next project with Tom.

Tom has refinished several pieces for me and I love the mellow satin look to the pieces. There is no grit in the finish from sanding which means he spends a lot of time getting it right. The biggest plus he is reasonable on his charges.

Visiting Tye’s Antiques is one of my favorite spots. The store is chocked full of lovely antiques and collectibles at very reasonable prices. I have purchased some of my favorite pieces from Tom and refer him to my friends who are collectors. Tom has refinished furniture for us as well as some of our friends and it is always done to perfection.

We love to go antiquing, and were very pleased with Tye's Antique Store. He has beautiful things which are very reasonably priced. I have introduced by family to his shop, and they have become big fans as well. We recently took a century old mission style sideboard to Mr. Tye to have refurbished and refinished. It was in bad shape, with quite a few stains on it. I couldn't believe how beautiful it looked when he was done with it. He stained it a reddish mahogany to match the rest of my dining room furniture. He fixed all of the drawers as well. It is absolutely perfect! We love the customer service and will continue to bring our business his way.

I have had Tom refinish several pieces of furniture for me that had been damaged by rubbing alcohol spills, nail polish etc. He has always done an excellent job for at a reasonable price. He and Robyn have always been so honest and friendly, and that goes a long way in this business. I highly recommend Tye's Antiques to anyone.

When we wanted to redecorate out Bed and Breakfast, my husband Jack and I looked no further than right here in Powhatan with Tye's Antiques. It only took us about two months to find a complete antique dining room set that really impresses out guests. We were on a limited budget and Tom found matching pieces within our price range. I have a beautiful dining room table that seats eight, two matching china cabinets, a buffet and he even refinished antique pieces that were my grandmothers to match the finish on all the furniture. The most impressive part of our transaction was when he found a bronze 1920s lamp that completed the entire dining room with elegance. Now I frequent the shop weekly to see what treasure he has waiting for us. I recommend Tye's Antiques to anyone who is just starting out or even redecorating to impress.

My grandmother's 60 year old mahogany sideboard had been in a storage shed for 9 tears and had turned gray. I was on the verge of giving it away when I showed it to Tom. He talked me into letting him fix it up and he really did. It now sits in our dining room and I just can't stop looking at it whenever I walk by. Outstanding job, reasonable price, and brings back memories of my grandmother and her dining room. Many thanks Tom.
